As part of the York U Forward Action Plan, the Faculties of the Future project aims to help York University evolve towards a more collaborative and sustainable organizational model. Around the world, universities are restructuring to address significant changes in higher education and research. While financial pressures have driven some of this change, many institutions have seized the opportunity for aspirational revisioning, strengthening their unique areas of excellence and fostering new academic and research collaborations.
York University envisions building a Faculty structure that encourages effective resource sharing, supports academic excellence and provides diverse students with transformative learning experiences. To achieve this, members of the University community are encouraged to participate in co-creating a vision for thriving, sustainable Faculties.
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to express their interest in joining the Faculties of the Future Working Group. This group will provide input on potential recommendations to the Academic Policy, Planning & Research Committee and the provost, review community feedback and share their own perspectives. Members can participate in engagement meetings and forums as they choose, and are encouraged to lead discussions within their academic and administrative circles.
Those who want to participate can complete and submit an expressions of interest form by Oct. 31.
