Complete the Employment Equity Self-ID Survey

Voir la version française

In February, we launched a revised version of the University’s Employee Self-Identification Survey and made it available in HR Self Serve. In early 2025, we will be launching a public dashboard on employment equity at York and the higher the response rate, the data will prove to more accurately represent the composition of employees. We are asking for your assistance and participation to increase the response rate on the new survey – we currently only have a 13 per cent response rate across employee groups. Please help us get to 50 per cent by the end of 2024.

Having an up-to-date and accurate picture of our workforce demographics allows York to identify gaps in employee representation and target our efforts towards removing barriers for employees in order to create a more inclusive, respectful and healthy work environment.

The survey information is confidential and can only be accessed by the program manager of equity, diversity and inclusion in the Division of Equity, People & Culture and authorized staff in Human Resources. Great care is taken to ensure that no individual can be identified. Self-identifying as one or more equity-identified group(s) is voluntary. You also have the option to choose not to self-identify by completing question 10, “I choose not to complete the Self-Identification Survey at this time.”

You can log into HR Self Serve using your employee Passport York account to update your self-identification responses in the same way you would update any of your personal information. Once you log into HR Self Serve, you will need to follow the following steps:

  1. Click on the “Personal Details” tile.
  2. Click on the “Employee Self-Identification” tile to begin the survey.

If you are an employee who does not currently have an employee Passport York account, please follow these instructions to set up an employee Passport York account.

If you have questions about employment equity or about the Self-Identification Survey, please email equity@yorku.ca.

Thank you. Merci. Miigwech.
