TTC, city to hold open house on preferred route for Spadina subway extension

The Toronto Transit Commission and the City of Toronto are conducting an Individual Environmental Assessment Study (under the Ontario Enviromental Assessment Act) for the extension of the Spadina subway from Downsview station to Steeles Avenue via York University.

Open houses and workshops were held in February 2005 during Phase One of the study.

Members of the York community are invited to get involved in the Phase Two Open House which will be held on Tuesday, May 17, from 3 to 7pm in the Bear Pit, located in Central Square on the Keele campus.

Participants will have an opportunity to comment on:

  • the preferred route (selected from the eight possible routes presented during Phase One);
  • alignment options within the preferred route, including station concepts that identify possible locations for bus terminals and commuter facilities; and
  • criteria that will be used to select the preferred alignment and station locations.

Those who are unable to attend the open house can submit their comments online from May 17 to June 1, 2005. For more information on the study and the public open house visit the Toronto Transit Commission Web site and click on the Spadina Subway Extension icon.
