Campers aged eight to 14 will have the opportunity to explore programs in theatre, visual arts, science, sports, and leadership (for 13-14 year olds) at the York Youth Connection (YYC) day camp this summer. Two week sessions, from July 4 to August 26, include daily swimming, sessional day trips and lots of exciting and educational activities.

The campers will experience a full day of activities starting at 8:30am and finishing at 4:30pm, five days a week, with structured program activities from 9am to 4pm. A pre-care service is available this year from 8am, and an after-care program is available on request until 5pm. The York Youth Connection Web site offers a sample of activities and program plans, together with additional information.
Nancy Accinelli, YYC camp manager, sees the positive force of YYC in its community. “York Youth Connection provides a real service to young people by offering lively and educational programs that give campers a chance to see the University at its best. I love seeing the smiles on their faces as campers participate in the various activities and trips,” said Accinelli. “The campers’ ‘Showcase’ performances at the end of each session, show off for parents and friends, what they have learned at the camp and are proof that campers do learn as they have fun – and that makes everyone smile!”

“This summer camp is a positive outlet for the youth of the community. It provides endless opportunities for growth and development, encouraging young people to participate in the arts, stay active in sports and establish long standing friendships. Campers are thrilled to come back year after year. The staff are exceptional and serve as positive role models for the campers,” said Accinelli.
YYC has served York and its neighbouring community for more than 30 years, establishing traditions and connections among students, the campus and community members. While at YYC, campers engage in creative programs that promote confidence and creativity, while exploring the York’s Keele campus; they learn about the University and take advantage of York’s facilities through camp programs. Many a youthful camper has grown up to become a York graduate.
