Jennifer Corriero, third-year student in interdisciplinary studies at York (business, communications, technology and culture), recently received the National Congress of Italian Canadians Young Achievement Award for 2002 at a gala reception and dinner. The award is given annually for distinguished service.
Corriero is co-founder and director of TakingITGlobal, a Web site aimed at people age13-30 who, as she puts it, “want to make a difference in the world. It is an international organization led by youth and empowered by technology. The TakingITGlobal Web site states that Corriero has been a speaker at many local, national and international events, presenting to students, business leaders, innovative educators and non-profit organizations about the impact of technology and the evolving role of young people in society. She has developed and driven programs related to youth engagement, technology, collaboration and social-entrepreneurship.
Corriero was named as one of the “Shapers of Our Future in the year 2000” in the area of technology and education by Converge Magazine. In addition, she was the Wire Woman Society’s 2001 Wired Woman Young Woman of the Year.

Enrolled at York University, Jennifer Corriero, aged 22, has already distinguished herself as a future leader of great promise. One of this year”s Global Leaders of Tomorrow, she has been involved in developing and operating youth programs related to the World Economic Forum. In 2000 she was among just twenty-five young people from all over the world invited to a conference in Malaysia on “global knowledge”.
