York University Development Corporation (YUDC) is hosting a roundtable discussion titled, “Transit as Catalyst”, Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 4 to 6pm, Room 280, York Lanes.
The roundtable discussion will examine the impact of the long-anticipated extension of the Spadina subway to York University. The extension will trigger a landmark transformation of York’s Keele campus over the coming decades.
Guest speakers include Tom Middlebrook, a senior transit specialist and engineering consultant. A former chief engineer with the Toronto Transit Commission, Middlebrook will provide background on what led to the new subway’s location, relating it to transit priorities and city expansion. Issues such as pent-up demand and York University’s unique needs and attributes will also be covered.
City of Toronto planner, Allison Meistrich, North District City Planning, will discuss the York University Secondary Plan Update and how transit will act as a catalyst in the evolution of the Keele campus.
Those who would like to attend should contact Barbara Cufaro, executive assistant, YUDC at ext. 55341 or e-mail cufarob@yorku.ca by Nov. 27.
