Chase winter away at York’s 2007 annual Health Fair

Chase away the winter blahs by checking out York’s annual health fair. The University’s Wellness Steering Committee, in collaboration with York’s Health Education & Promotion office, is gearing up for Health Fair 2007 – an annual event full of ideas and information on how to live a healthier life.

This year’s fair takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 10am to 3pm, in Central Square on York’s Keele campus and has something for everyone including informative exhibits by students, staff and faculty, live fitness demonstrations and chances to win great prizes including an IPOD.

Guests from across the Greater Toronto Area, as well as campus departments will focus on five key areas related to student health on campus, healthy eating & physical activity, stress management, smoking cessation, healthy sexuality and responsible drinking. The off-campus participants include the AIDS Committee of Toronto, Bay Centre for Birth Control, Canadian Blood Services, Sheena’s Place, Toronto Vegetarian Association, Toronto Public Health and many others. Key areas related to faculty and staff include: pensions & benefits information and the Employee Assistance Program.

Students, staff and faculty will be encouraged to visit the exhibitors and receive a sticker on their "Bingo Card". Once they have two lines of stickers, they can enter a prize draw for a chance to win generous gifts and prize packs donated by merchants in York Lanes Mall.

This event is a partnership between Health Education & Promotion, in the Centre for Student Community & Leadership Development, and the Wellness Steering Committee (Wellness Committee members are York faculty and staff).
