Arts pioneer, cultural icon and York Professor Emeritus James Mavor Moore touched the lives of many people as a colleague, friend, teacher, mentor, actor and author during his long and extraordinary life. Moore died on Dec. 18, 2006, following a period of ill health. (For the full story, see the Jan. 3, 2007 issue of YFile.) His daughters – Tedde, Rosalind, Marili and Charlotte – are collecting personal memories, anecdotes and stories 
about Moore which will be displayed at a May 7 celebration of his life.

"It has been wonderful for us to read how people remember Dad and what he meant to them," said Tedde Moore. "We hope to gather as many memories as we can and make them a part of our May tribute."
On Monday, May 7, Mavor Moore will be honoured by some of Canada’s finest actors and performers at Toronto’s Bluma Appel Theatre. The Last Best Spring Thaw – the Words and Music of Mavor Moore will include songs from his Spring Thaw revue and musical theatre work, CBC archival footage, and personal reminiscences.
Actors and musicians confirmed to date include Dave Broadfoot, Kenneth Welsh, Victor A. Young, Charlotte Moore, John Alcorn, Elaine Campbell, Cedric Smith, Stephanie Graham and Araby Lockhart with direction and choreography by Jim Betts and Di Nyland Proctor.
"It will be really moving to hear people’s memories and anecdotes," said Charlotte Moore. "We know that Dad had a positive influence on so many people’s lives."
