Over 600 students attend Faculty of Arts open house

Over 600 students attended the second annual Faculty of Arts Open House Sept. 20. Held at The Underground, the event offered first-year arts students especially a chance to learn more about the Faculty’s 51 areas of study and how they can get involved in the student clubs, colleges and services affiliated with the Faculty.

"In a Faculty as large as Arts, it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle and never really immerse yourself in the bigger picture. I hope the open house breaks down that barrier and students are able to experience the value of their time with us," said Karin Micheelsen, Faculty of Arts manager of communications, public relations & recruitment.

"I would like to thank all those who contributed to the success of the open house and express my sincere pleasure that so many students had a chance to find out more about our programs and our Faculty," said Dean Robert Drummond, Faculty of Arts.

As they arrived at the open house, students could enter a draw for gift certificates for Future Shop and The Underground, and prizes from the York Alumni Office, Faculty of Arts and York University Bookstores. Each student who attended received a commemorative piggybank.
