On August 28th, we kicked off the first ever YSpace Food Accelerator with an exciting Mixer event at our space. One of the first of its kind in the GTA, our Food Accelerator will help promising food and beverage consumer-packaged goods (CPG) ventures build their strategy, grow their network and scale their business.
After much deliberation, we narrowed a staggering amount of applications down to 6 companies that are driving innovation in the food and beverage industry. Get to know the 2019 YSpace Food Accelerator Class below!
CROOKED TREE FINE FOODS
When Monica Roe shifted her family's eating habits to a more natural and wholesome diet, she immediately noticed the benefits. Now, Monica is bringing her passion for ready-made, nutrient-dense foods packed with flavour to a grocery aisle near you as the founder of Crooked Tree Fine Foods.
EATABLE
Spirit enthusiasts Charlene and Vincent Li were always frustrated with the lack of clean, flavourful snacks sold in stores. Together, the couple founded EATABLE and launched their innovative line of all natural, gourmet popcorn that features flavours inspired by classic cocktails, wines and spirits.
INNER GLOW SUPERFOODS
Kat Bodkin first fell in love with acai while interning with a sustainable development organization in Brazil in 2012. In 2017, Kat started Inner Glow Superfoods to bring the delicious fruit to Canada, while also empowering local farmers in Brazil and supporting the preservation of the Amazon Rainforest.
STRYV NUTRITION
Chris Lambert describes himself as "a pretty active guy with a more active sweet tooth." Tired of choosing between flavour and nutrition, Chris founded Stryv and launched his line of energy-boosting, chocolate superfood snacks to help customers fuel better and feel better.
SUKU VITAMINS
Ju Young Yoo was never a fan of vitamin pills, and he knew he wasn't alone. Ju Young decided to take matters into his own hands by launching SUKU Vitamins, a collection of top of the line, delicious vitamin gummies that are sugar-free, plant-based and non-GMO.
TRANZLABS
A former sponsored athlete, Steven Williams knows a few things about performing at the highest level. In 2016, he founded Tranzlabs with the goal of providing natural supplement solutions for improved mental cognition and physical performance.
OHH! FOODS
Brittany Charlton struggled to find tasty snacks that were free of Canada's top 10 allergens, so she founded Ohh! Foods to provide healthy and nutrious vegan and allergen free snacks.
DRINK MIURA
Adam Lewis has always loved the taste of coffee but he wasn't in love with the ready to go options on th market. So Adam dug into his routes and created Miura, a Japanese brewed cofee that is a delicious product perfect for folks who are on the go.
