Apple Wallet Users
Mobile: iPhone 8 or later; iOS 16 or later.
Watch: Apple Watch Series 1 or later;
Watch OS 5 or later.
Apple ID: Signed into iCloud. If two devices are used, both must be signed into same iCloud account.
SET UP
STEP ONE
Submit your YU-card Application and wait for approval.
STEP TWO
Download Transact eAccounts Mobile App and sign-in with Passport York.
STEP THREE
Tap "Add to Apple Wallet" and follow the prompts.
Adding YU-card to Apple Wallet
Visit the YU-card Application to apply for your YU-card.
- Review the photo file requirements and upload your YU-card ID photo.
- Upload a photo of your government issued photo ID for verification.
- Review and submit!
Please allow 3 to 5 business days for the YU-card team to review. Proceed to step 2 once your application has been approved.
Download the Transact eAccounts Mobile App from the App Store.
- Open the eAccounts app and click through the startup screens.
- Search and select York University and tap on YU-card.
- Sign in with your Passport York.
Follow the prompts to Add to Apple Wallet*. You can add your YU-card to an iPhone and/or an Apple Watch.
- Select "add to iPhone" or "add to Apple Watch" and continue through the prompts (next, read the Terms & Conditions and if you agree, Tap on Agree to proceed).
- When the process is complete, confirm your Mobile YU-card has been added to Wallet.
- Tap Done to return to the Home screen of the app.
*Your YU-card Application may be pending if the "add to Apple Wallet" option does not appear.
When adding a mobile YU-card onto a new device, please to contact doorcard@yorku.ca to transfer any existing door access to your new card. To request access for the first time, please contact your supervisor or department for authorization.
Using Apple Express ID Mode by simply tapping your phone to the reader.

With Express Mode, you can use cards, passes, and keys in the Wallet app with just a tap.
If you had your YU-card on an iPhone/Watch and now have a new one, you will need to remove your card from the old device before setting up your new one. Follow these steps:
- On your new iPhone/Watch, navigate to Settings and tap the section with your name at the very top to go into your iCloud settings.
- Scroll down to see a list of your devices associated with your iCloud account and select your old iPhone/Watch.
- Scroll down to see the Apple Pay section and find "YU-card". Tap "Remove Card" which should remove all of your cards from your Apple Wallet including your YU-card.
- Once your YU-card is removed from your old iPhone/Watch, you can log into the eAccounts app on your new device and add your YU-card to your new device.
If you plan on having your YU-card on both iPhone and Watch, follow these steps:
- Repeat the steps from above.
- Ensure your second device is signed into the same iCloud account as the first device.
- From the Campus ID screen in eAccounts, tap the "i" icon in the upper right corner of your eAccounts display.
- Tap Add or Remove Campus ID from Wallet.
- Choose your second device to add your Mobile YU-card.
- On the Add Card to Wallet screen, tap Next in the upper right corner.
- Follow the prompts to complete adding your card.

FAQ for Apple Wallet Users
- On your device, go to Settings > General > Software Updates.
- If your device is running iOS 12.2 or later, you’re ready to use the Mobile YU-card.
- If not, tap Download > Install. You may need to enter your passcode to start the update.
- Once the download is complete, follow the instructions on your phone to finish upgrading to the latest version of iOS.
- The series number for your Apple Watch can be found on the back of the Watch.

On your iPhone, open the My Watch app > Passcode > turn on Wrist Detection

Yes, we recommend regular updates to ensure recent features and security updates are applied.
On your device, visit the App Store and search eAccounts. The store will prompt you to install any required updates.
You can add one iPhone and/or one Apple Watch to your account at a time.
First remove the pass from your old device from Apple Wallet. Once removed, go to the e-accounts app on your new iPhone and follow the steps to add to Apple Wallet.

Yes, but we recommend using the Remove Card function directly from Apple Wallet.
From the eAccounts app:
- Open the eAccounts Mobile App on your phone.
- Tap Continue to Sign In and login with your school credentials.
- Approve the multi-factor authentication request.
- Tap on the arrow next to your profile photo and tap on More Information.
- Tap on Remove ID from Wallet.
**Eligible cardholders who have not exceeded their device limit can add their Mobile YU-card back at any time.
- If your account balances are $0, they will not display until funds are added.
- If you have available funds that are not displaying, make a purchase and they should appear.
- If not, please contact the YU-card Office at yucard@yorku.ca.
- Log into eAccounts to deactivate your card or device. During regular business hours, contact the YU-card Office at 416-736-5674 or yucard@yorku.ca to notify us to deactivate the Mobile YU-card. Be sure to specify whether the physical card, watch, and/or Mobile YU-card should be deactivated. Any device not specified to be suspended will remain active.
- If applicable, identify the fraudulent activity: for purchases using Flex dollars or Meal Plan, contact the YU-card Office (416-736-5674 or yucard@yorku.ca) and report the suspected fraud. If door access was involved, contact Door Access Services.
- How to deactivate on eAccounts:
- On the eAccounts app:
- Tap the gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Select the Card Management option.
- Choose the credential you want to deactivate and toggle it off.
- You will receive a confirmation email. Only the selected card will be deactivated. All other credentials will remain active.
- On the eAccounts website:
- Select Card Services
- Select Deactivate Card
- Select the credential to deactivate and click on “Deactivate Card”
- You will receive a confirmation email. Only the selected card will be deactivated. All other credentials will remain active.

To reactivate a found device that was suspended, perform the following steps:
On the eAccounts App:
- Tap the icon in the upper right corner.
- Select the Card Management option.
- Choose the credential you want to reactivate and toggle it on.
- You will receive a confirmation email. Only the selected card will be reactivated.
On the eAccounts website:
- Select Card Services
- Select Activate Card
- Select the credential to reactivate
- You will receive a confirmation email. Only the selected card will be reactivated.
Confirm your device is not in Airplane Mode or experiencing any other service interruption. Updates cannot be made when there is no connecting service to sync data between eAccounts and your device. The eAccounts app will display the most current information.
- iPhone: On the eAccounts app > tap on the arrow icon beside your name > tap “View in Wallet”
- Apple Watch: Open the Watch app on your iPhone > select Wallet & Apple Pay > select YU-card.
Your card in Apple Wallet will default to Express Mode for both iPhone and Watch allowing you to use your card at a reader without a passcode, Touch ID or Face ID.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus do not support Express Mode and you will need to open the Wallet app, select your YU-card and authenticate to use. Your card will include your photo and classification of student, faculty or staff.
Open your digital wallet, and tap the top right corner icon (i) on Apple Wallet. Your number will then be displayed, along with other information including YU-card contacts and more.
When using Express Mode (iPhone 6s or later), your YU-card will not be displayed with other cards in Apple Wallet for security purposes.
If you have an iPhone XS, XS Max or XR models, yes. Express Mode with power reserve is available for up to five hours when your phone needs to be charged. For more details, visit the add your student ID to Apple Wallet on your iPhone or Apple Watch webpage. Other iPhone models (iPhone 8 and earlier) do not offer this feature.
