Australian Fellowships

The Government of Australia offers $112,000/year (Australian) fellowships to perform research at a publicly financed higher-education institution or research organization in Australia. Up to five fellowships each year may be awarded to high-profile non-Australian researchers, however foreign fellows must undertake research which is demonstrated to be of national benefit to Australia.

Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute

Indian Studies Program Fellowships

The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute offers Canadian faculty the opportunity for research, study and language training in India in the humanities, the social sciences and the arts. Types of fellowships include Faculty Fellowships, Librarian Fellowships, Postdoctoral Fellowships and Arts Fellowships. Fellowships are available for both junior and senior faculty members.

SSHRC

Aid to Research and Transfer Journals: Special Initiative Grants

SSHRC provides up to $10,000 to assist with the establishment of electronic publishing or other initiatives or improvements related to quality, dissemination or impact of a journal, or to help a journal defray the costs of initiatives of exceptional quality and interest.

Sofja Kovalevskaja Program

Up to 2.25 DM is available to establish a group of young researchers in Germany. The award includes funds for the recipient's own salary and for the costs of setting up and operating an independent team for researchers in a field of the team's own choice.

Review of Research Administration and Research Accounting

The Offices of the Vice-President Research & Innovation and Vice-President Finance & Administration are coordinating an external review of the research processes at York. It is important that the reviewers hear the views of the York research community, thus scheduled times have been set aside for researchers to meet with the reviewers: Thursday, May 30, 10:45am to noon, and Friday, May 31, 9 to 10:30am. If you would like to participate in one of these meetings with the reviewers, please
e-mail Chandra Persaud (persaud@ circus.yorku.ca) by Friday, May 17, indicating which of the two dates you would be able to attend. If you are unable to attend but have comments that you would like passed on to the reviewers, please send them to the Associate Vice-President Research, Suzanne MacDonald (avp_res@yorku.ca) by May 27.
