Curriculum Objectives

• Students will contextualize historical oppressions & relate to contemporary struggles
• Students will be able to identify challenges of Margaret/Harriet encountered by giving an explanation of what they would do in a similar situation
• Students will be able to identify contemporary freedom fighters (Bob Marley, Angela Davis) and contemplate their criteria of a "Hero"
• Students will map "route to freedom" as described by Harriet as well as historical "routes to freedom" into Canada
• Students will create a travel planner complete with passport applications
• Students will create their own Accent Tags utilizing "nation" language
• Students will gain expose to international Freedom Songs and create one of their own
• Students will participate in the Freedom, the board game
