ACMAPS has been very instrumental in my transition back to school and my subsequent success as a mature student. They provided me a home on campus.

How do I know if I'm a...

At York, you are a mature student if:

  • you are at least 20 years old by the end of the calendar year of admission to the University;
  • you have have been out of full-time high school studies for at least two years; and
  • you have attempted less than one full year of studies at an accredited college or university.

You can learn more about the mature student experience in our Mature Student Guide

At York, you’re considered a part-time student if you are taking fewer than nine credits per academic term. Most of our courses are offered on a part-time basis, allowing our students to balance personal and professional/work obligations.

You can learn more about part-time studies at York on the Future Students website.

At York, a transfer student is someone who has previously completed courses at an accredited post-secondary institution (college or university) before joining York. With your credits transferred, you're now continuing your studies at York University.

For more details on the transfer process and available resources, check out our Transfer Student Resource Guide.
