Dialect Atlas

Prototype Two

A version of the prototype has been prepared with actual data from the "Noul Atlas Lingusitic Roman", showing 120 locations.

Future revisions will address concerns about usability, created for example by the long list of locations.

For now, the revision shows a data-centric map that can display labels or not (click the "Show Labels" button.), and that can selectively display data by type or location.

Instructions

To see what the revised Demonstration Online Atlas can do:

  • On the first Atlas page, scroll down until the map is visible.
  • Then, click on the display checkboxes.
  • To go to the first Atlas page, click here.

    • Prototype One

    The Romanian Online Dialect Atlas is under construction. Here is our first "Proof of Concept" prototype for the dialect atlas.

    The current protype is implemented as a Java applet. In this way, we avoid the concerns about viruses that come with downloaded programs. You may have to adjust your browser settings to enable Java.

    Subsequent versions of the Online Atlas will be available at a later date. Please visit our site then.
