Welcome!
Welcome to the study site for FACS 1900B (6.0): ARTS AND IDEAS. This site has been designed to assist you as you review the material presented in class and in tutorial. It contains:
- selected images and sounds presented in lecture and tutorial
- keyword lists
- weekly reading reports that you and your classmates prepare over the course of the year
- bibliography related to the material we cover
- documentation of in-class experiments and field trips
- links to arts events that support the course
You will likely find the study site most useful if you visit it with the notes you’ve taken in class and tutorial beside you. Keep in mind that the site cannot be used as a substitute for attending lectures and tutorials as it deliberately does not make reference to the themes, concepts, and ideas presented by me and/or your TA. In other words, much of the material on the site has been decontextualized; you should work toward recontextualizing it as you review. Consider how we have used the material on the study site to explore the multi-faceted possibilities of interdisciplinarity in relation to the fine, performing, and new media arts.
Study material will generally be posted after we complete each unit. Because the site is continually being developed, it is important to check it on a regular basis.
