The STS program at York is undertaking an Undergraduate Program Review (UPR). Your input in the process is essential!
An STS Student Forum will be held on Wednesday, Feb 10th, 4:30 to 6:30 pm, in Room 202 at
Bethune College.
Please plan to attend and share your views about your experiences in the STS program.

"How 'green' is the computer? Research and discuss the environmental impact of the processes that end up with the machine in front of you."

"Discuss some of the effects that computers have on the traditional notion of private property."

"One of the problems with the digital world is the greater volatility of digital information. Discuss in detail one or two examples."
Choose one topic. The essay is due March 2, 2010. No extensions granted.

Reading Week.

First Assignment (20%)
"Browse through Scientific American or similar
reliable magazine, and find a detailed example of the use of the scientific
method. Summarize and discuss such example."
The essay is due October 27. No extensions granted.

On Saturday October 3, the campus Astronomical Observatory in conjunction
with the York University Astronomy Club will be hosting an all day event
called the STAR
Symposium. This event is for all students. A series of demonstrations will be running in
Vari Hall during the day and 2 keynote astronomy presentation will happen
in the evening. The speakers are Bob MacDonald (CBC Quirks and Quarks)
and Ivan Semeniuk (Reporter in Residence at David Dunlop Institute) This
is a free event for all students.
