Wednesday, May 23: Republic Book 3.412b - Book 4 (the rationally self-controlled city-state).
Monday, May 28: Republic Book 5 (the three waves or a new beginning).
[first essays due Monday, May 28; note that June 1 is the last date to drop the course without receiving a grade]
Wednesday, May 30: Republic Book 6 and 7 to 519b (the sun, line and cave).
Monday, June 4: Republic Book 7 from 519b (philosopher-rulers).
Wednesday, June 6: Republic Book 8 and 9 to 575d (decline and fall).
Monday, June 11: Republic Book 9 from 575e (the superiority of justice).

NB.  Wednesday, June 6, second essay topics. This 10 page essay is due Wednesday, June 20 by 12:00 noon. Copies can be emailed to me, once submitted to turnitin. Alternatively, you can drop them off in the box especially designated for this in the philosophy department.
