Research
- Intoxication in the law (including the actio libera in causa principle)
- A Contractarian Theory of Criminalization
I have had the pleasure of working with the Criminalization Project Team on a number of topics in criminal law theory over the past couple of years.
Antony Duff is now directing the Criminal Law section of the Robina Institute at the University of Minnesota Law School.
I am also working with Claire Finkelstein at the University of Pennsylvania Law School on a project concerning what we should do with offenders who create the conditions of their own criminal defences: the actio libera in causa doctrine. For Professor Finekstein's info, see http://www.law.upenn.edu/cf/faculty/cfinkels/. Claire has started a new research institute, Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law.
I continue to work on topics related to contractarian moral theory, and a number of issues in criminal law theory, especially intoxication in the law.
I am also a member of the Ontario Legal Philosophy Partnership.
