Prof. Jinjun Shan was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Prof. Shan and SDCNLab got a research contract from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) to work on Non-linear Finite Element Analysis and Control Verification of Membrane Structure for SAR Antenna.

Prof. Shan and SDCNLab was awarded a NSERC CRD Grant to investigate Development of Automated Assembly Integration and Test (AAIT) System for NEOSSat Telescope. Our industrial partner is Spectral Applied Research Inc.

Mr. Piotr Wenderski passed his thesis defense on October 5th 2009. Congratulations to Piotr! His thesis is on Formation Flying Hardware-In-The-Loop Simulation Using A Cold-Gas Thruster. Currently, Piotr Wenderski works at ESA as a Intern.

Ryan Orszulik and Piotr Wenderski from SDCNLab attended 2009 AIAA GNC Conference at Chicago and made presentations on Active Vibration Control of Flexible System and Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation for Spacecraft Formation Flying Mission.

Prof. Shan attended IEEE ICMA at Changchun, China and gave a presentation on Vision-Based Navigation and Control for Indoor Airship.

Dr. Jinjun Shan attended CANCAM 2009 at Halifax during May 31 - June 4 and gave a talk on Hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) simulation for spacecraft formation flying.

Ryan gave the final presentation of our work on Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Membrane Structures in PSE258. This CSA project has been completed successfully. Well done, Ryan!

Two of our papers have been accepted by 2009 AIAA Guidance Navigation and Control Conference in Chicago, USA.

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) issued a contract to Prof. Jinjun Shan and SDCNLab to study Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Membrane Structures.

Ms. Hua Lin passed her thesis defense in November 2008. Congratulations to Hua. Currently, Hua Lin works at COM DEV in Ottawa as a Senior Engineer.

Prof. Jinjun Shan has been awarded an OCE Research Grant to develop Orbit Simulation Software to Assist Optical System Design. This project is supported by Ontario Centres of Excellence and Spectral Applied Research, a high-tech space company.

Prof. Jinjun Shan attended 2008 AIAA GNC in Hawaii, USA. He presented his work on spacecraft formation flying synchronization control.

Prof. Jinjun Shan has been awarded NSERC RTI Grant to develop a Multi-Link Flexible/Rigid Robotic Manipulator System.

Profs. Gordon Shepherd, John Miller, and Jinjun Shan visited Harbin Institute of Technology to discuss collaboration in space engineering/science programs between York and HIT.

Welcome Ryan Orszulik and Piotr Wenderski for their joining in September 2007. Ryan will be working on active vibration control of flexible spacecraft using smart structures. Piotr will be working on cold-gas thruster development and its hardware-in-the-loop simulation for spacecraft formation flying.

Prof. Jinjun Shan attended 2007 IEEE ICMA in Harbin, China and presented his work on active vibration control. During this period, Prof. Shan paid a visit to Harbin Institute of Technology and gave 2 seminars!

Prof. Jinjun Shan has been awarded CRESS Seed Money to develop an Indoor Airship for Studies on Dynamics Control and Vision-Based Navigation.
