August 5 - 8, 2012 [Conference]
Prof. Jinjun Shan attended 2012 IEEE ICMA conference in Chengdu, China and presented our research work on active shape control of space membrane structure. Our paper entitled Flatness Measurement and Active Control for a Membrane Structure has been selected in the Finalist of Best Paper Award. Well done Ryan, Mark and Gowry.

Prof. Jinjun Shan received a short-term invitation fellowship from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). He will spend two months in Keio University conducting collaborative research.

Dr. Xiaogang Wang completed his two-year tenure as Post-doctoral Fellow at SDCNLab on May 31st, 2012. He will return to Harbin Institute of Technology to pursue his professional career. All the best, Dr. Wang!

A delegation from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), led by President Shuguo Wang, visited York and signed a MOU with President Mamdouh Shouki of York University. During their visit, the delegation visited SDCNLab.

Mr. Ampere Kui passed his M.Sc. thesis defence on May 3rd, 2012. Ampere will be working on Vision-Based Navigation for Mobile Robots.

Prof. Jinjun Shan and Ryan Orszulik attended 2012 AIAA SDM conference in Honolulu, Hawaii. We presented two papers on our recent work on membrane structure active shape control and FEM analysis.

Prof. Jinjun Shan successfully renewed his NSERC Discovery Grant for 5 years. His research project is Dynamics and Control of Space Structures for Space Applications.
March 12, 2012 [Members]
Prof. Jinjun Shan received the prestigious Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation in Germany. The fellowship offers experienced researchers the opportunity to spend up to 18 months abroad conducting collaborative research with educational institutions in Germany. Prof. Shan will conduct his fellowship at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg.
February 23 - 24, 2012 [Project]
Prof. Jinjun Shan and Dr. Yuan Ren attended the CABLE final project review meeting at MPB Inc. and CSA. The review meeting went very well. In this international collaborative lunar project, SDCNLab has contributed to orbit design and analysis. We hope this project can be moved to the next phase.
February 2-3, 2012 [Members]
Prof. Jinjun Shan attended Canadian Workshop on Micro-penetrator for Planetary Exploration at the Canadian Space Agency and gave a talk on orbit design and optimization for micro-penetrator missions. Prof. Shan also delivered a talk at Concordia University on Spacecraft Formation Flying.

Prof. Jinjun Shan was awarded a MITACS-Accelerate Cluster Grant to investigate Low-Energy Transfer Trajectory Design and Optimization for Space Exploration. Our industry partner is MPB Communications Inc.
