Prof. Jinjun Shan attended 2013 IEEE ROBIO conference on December 12-14 in Shenzhen, China and presented our research work on vision-based navigation for mobile robots.

November 29, 2013 [Members]

Mr. Ryan Orszulik successfully passed his Ph.D. defence on November 29, 2013. His thesis is on Dynamics and Control of Smart Structures in Space Applications.

November 21, 2013 [Visiting]

Dr. Bjarni Tryggvason visited SDCNLab on November 20. During his visit, he gave two talks on his flight experiences on International Space Station (ISS) and his research on vibration isolation system. Bjarni served as a payload specialist on space shuttle mission STS-85 in 1997, a 12-day mission to study changes in Earth’s atmosphere. Here is a detailed introduction to Bjarni.

Yanfang Liu and Ziliang Kang completed their research stay at SDCNLab and returned to Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). All the bests to Yanfang and Ziliang!

Xuebu Xue and Dr. Likun Liu joined SDCNLab as visiting scholars supported by CSC. Xiaobu and Likun will stay with us for 6 months and 12 months, respectively.

Prof. Jifeng Guo joined SDCNLab as a visiting professor for 12 months.

Shawn Walker joined SDCNLab as a Master student and will be working on computer simulation for multi-agent systems. Shawn worked as a part-time RAY student at SDCNLab before he started his Master study. Welcome, Shawn!

August 28, 2013 [Project/Research]

Three papers from SDCNLab have been accepted and will be presented at 2014 AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition, to be held on 13 - 17 January 2014 at National Harbor, Maryland. Well done, Yuan, Yanfang and Shawn!

Our recent paper on dynamics modeling of PZT actuator has been accepted for publication on the prestigious Journal of Mechatronics. Well done, Yanfang!

Prof. Shan was invited to give a talk at German Aerospace Center (DLR) at Brunswick. The topic of his talk is Active Shape Control of Space Membrane Structures.

March 20-22, 2013 [Members]

Prof. Shan attended Humboldt Network Meeting in Hannover, Germany and gave a presentation on active vibration control using smart structures.

February 13, 2013 [Members]

Prof. Shan started his 6-month Humboldt Fellowship at Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg, Germany.

Prof. Jinjun Shan is on sabbatical leave in 2012-2013. During August - October 2012, he was in China and visited several universities and institutes in China.

During October - December 2012, Prof. Shan was a visiting associate professor at Keio University under JSPS fellowship. Here are some pictures I took in Japan. More pictures can be found at photo center.
