September 26, 2014 [Visiting]

Prof. Dr. Jan Wörner (Chairman of the Executive Board of DLR) and Andrea Boese serves as Vice-President of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) visited SDCNLab on September 26. Prof. Wörner also gave a talk on “Space: The Ultimate Challenge or a Waste of Money?” for York faculty and students.

Prof. Jinjun Shan attended 2014 IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation (ICIA) at Hailar, China on July 26 - 30.

July 1, 2014 [Conference]

Prof. Jinjun Shan attended 2014 IEEE ISIE Conference at Istanbul, Turkey on June 2 - 8 and 2014 European Control Conference at Strasbourg, France on June 24 - 27. Three papers from SDCNLab were presented during these conferences.

June 1, 2014 [Funding]

SDCNLab was recently awarded two NSERC ENGAGE grants for  research on robotics simulation and atmospheric model identification together with Canadian industry.

May 1, 2014 [Funding]

SDCNLab was awarded a FAST contract from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) to develop a 2-D imaging Fabry-Perot spectrometer for atmospheric observation. This instrument will be launched by a high-altitude balloon within 3 years.

March 19, 2014 [Members]

Ryan Orszulik from SDCNLab received the prestigious Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation in Germany. Ryan will spend two-year research stay at both the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg and German Aerospace Center (DLR). The success rate for Humboldt Research Fellowship applications is only 1/3. Congratulations to Ryan!

March 11, 2014 [Project/Research]

Two papers on dynamics and control of piezoelectric actuators from SDCNLab have been accepted and will be presented at 2014 European Control Conference (ECC) on June 24-27 in Strasbourg, France.

In addition, one paper on piezoelectric actuator from SDCNLab was accepted by the 23rd IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics which will be held in Istanbul, Turkey during June 1-4, 2014.

Prof. Jinjun Shan and Shawn Walker attended 2014 AIAA SciTech conference on January 13-17 in National Harbor, MD. Three papers from SDCNLab were presented during this conference.

Prof. Jinjun Shan was awarded a combined NSERC ENGAGE/OCE VIP grant for Development of Miniature High-Precision Autosampler for Automatic Capillary Electrophoresis Injection Control.
