Tragically, Shawn Walker, PhD candidate at SDCNLab, passed away on Saturday October 22 morning. Each of us not only grieves at the passing of a tremendous individual but also for the loss his family suffers. Shawn joined SDCNLab as a RAY student in 2011 and started his MSc in 2013, in 2014 he transferred to PhD program and had been working on artificial intelligence of autonomous unmanned vehicles. He will be missed by SDCNLab!

September 3, 2016 [Project]
On September 3, SDCNLab participated a stratospheric balloon campaign at Esrange Space Center in Kiruna Sweden. A Fabry-Perot spectrometer developed by SDCNLab under a CSA FAST grant was successfully launched on a stratospheric balloon at 34 km to measure aerosol, surface pressure and albedo at O2 A-band. The balloon flight was very successful and all scientific objectives have been achieved. Prof. Jinjun Shan, Dr. Yuan Ren, Dr. Chris Sioris, Mike Voutsogiannakis, Mohammed Kagalwala from SDCNLab and Dr. Ryan Orszulik from University of Magdeburg participated this balloon flight. More information about this flight can be found at:
