Therefore, we may take into consideration that audiences' codes determine the meaning of a text. A piece of text may have multiple interpretations. These cultural and political codes uesd to interpret meaning differ from place to place and they keep changing over time. Modern Time is a very good example to show how these codes works. There are many interpretations of this film and most of them don't match the author's original meaning. When we explore the meaning of a text objectively, we first need to understand and think about these codes.
