The Toronto Star

he Toronto Star is a widely read newspaper in Toronto. It is owned by the corporation of TORSTAR . This corporation has many branches to it, THE TORONTO STAR is just one its many branches. It has vast influence over how reader’s perceive things happening in the news and the opinions they take after they have read specific stories. THE TORONTO STAR even reports that:

Through its various editions, inserts and special interest supplements, The Star provides both a general advertising medium covering the GTA and a means of reaching specified geographic or special interest markets...The Star has more exclusive readers on any publishing day than all of their competitors combined. The weekday Star is read by 27% of Toronto adults, giving it the largest reach among the four main dailies available in the GTA. The Saturday Star reaches 1.4 million Toronto adults, more than the Globe, Post and Sun combined.

This is where the newspaper becomes problematic, because it goes against its own principles, codes, and goals by having stories that include sexist language and generalizations.
