Introduction

In this section we will focus on citing and referencing web resources. By the end of this section you will have a good understanding of:

• What citations are
• How can citation guides help you in the process of writing your research
• How to use citations
• How to avoid plagiarism
• How to keep track of your sources

Since there are so many citation guides available with different guidelines, this section is not a substitute for any citation guide that you will be required to use in your courses. The only guides that have been used as examples are American Psychological Association (APA) and Modern Language Association (MLA).
