Project Goals
Restructuring Work and Labour in the New Economy is sharing its
findings with trade unions and community organizations, researchers
and decision-makers in government and business. At the conclusion
of our three-year mandate, we will have produced rigorous research
disseminated in scholarly publications and formats accessible
to the policy community and the Canadian public.
The research objectives of RWL-INE include developing a profile
of social, political, and economic transformations in the new
economy and examining shifting institutional adjustments as a
result of the effects of globalization. We also explore the impact
of these changes on the social and cultural experience of work.
While examining the proliferation of insecure and temporary work
in the new economy, RWL-INE researchers are examining methods
for creating quality work through public policy and employee participation.
Our main goal is gathering new knowledge from our research and
directing it toward changes in work structures and policy-making,
in order to improve the quality and conditions of work and community
life throughout the country.
