Presentation: Collaborative Planning in Urban Regeneration Projects: A Comparative Perspective
The focus of Ms. Gavan-Koop's presentation was on the use of collaborative planning in urban regeneration projects. This presentation examined two urban regeneration projects: the Lawrence-Allen Heights Project in Toronto and the Castle Vale Project in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Judith Innes describes the process of collaborative planning as "long-term face to face group processes...[in which] groups are called together to prepare legislation, policies, plans, regulatory principles, and implementation strategies" (1994, vii). Denisa interviewed participants who recently participated in these projects in order to recommend strategies that can be applied to the Tower Renewal Project.
