Presentation: The Tower in the Park: The Legacy and Prospect of Landscape in Tower Renewal
In the context of Toronto's tower renewal project, the landscape between the apartment blocks is being
reimagined as active, vibrant--built--urban space. This is a significant departure from the "towers in the park" proposed by Le Corbusier and enacted by planners through the post-war building boom where the green view out of the window promised fresh air and open space to make high density living possible. Dr. Taylor discusses the changing relationship of the towers and their landscapes in revitalization and suggests greater integration of residents' perspectives in planning for the future.
